This course equips you with future focused, industry driven skills and the knowledge needed to thrive in business. It covers all business management functions including accounting, finance, economics, marketing, human resources management plus skills to inform business planning and strategy.

Flinders' city campus at Festival Plaza is a place where potential meets possibility. Offering a broad range of study areas, this unique, modern space in the heart of Adelaide is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, Festival Plaza provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility when selecting their preferred study location.

Please note only Year 1 topics of this course will be available in 2024. If you have been granted credit transfer or wish to apply for credit transfer for this course on the basis of previous study and you are granted credit, this may mean you will not be able to enrol in Year 2 or higher year topics, nor able to enrol on a full-time basis until 2025.

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and competencies that will provide a foundation for further study and careers in business-related fields. Students will be encouraged and supported to develop transferable interpersonal and professional capabilities, with a focus on the application of knowledge, competencies, and capabilities to a range of business/organisational contexts. Students will apply their knowledge and competencies to a range of business/organisational practices including systems and processes, planning, production, and operations.

Students will undertake topics such as Accounting for Managers, Management, People and Organisations, Economics for Business, Law for Business, Marketing Principles, Quantitative Methods, Innovative and Creative Thinking: Recognising Opportunities, and Academic and Professional Numeracy.

On successful completion of the Diploma students will be guaranteed entry to the following courses:

  • Bachelor of Archaeology
  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Bachelor of Business
  • Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Marketing or Sports Management)
  • Bachelor of Business Economics
  • Bachelor of Creative Industries (Digital Media, Festivals and Arts Production, Film and Television, Interactive Design, Music, Theatre and Performance, or Writing and Publishing)
  • Bachelor of Disability and Community Inclusion
  • Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education
  • Bachelor of Engineering Science
  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of International Relations and Political Science
  • Bachelor of Science
Students can apply for up to one year of credit towards a Bachelor degree course.
