Overview

This course offers students intensive support in literacy and provides a strong foundation for further studies and, potentially, a career in early childhood, primary and/or secondary school education. It is designed for students who aspire to be teachers and have not yet met the entry requirements for the Bachelor of Education Courses.

You will complete eight units of study including specific units in Literacy and other units that support thinking about education in context. Additional hours of face to face teaching per Block support your success.

You may choose to exit after the diploma for a role such as a teacher's aide.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Education studies.

The careers this qualification may lead to include teacher's aide.

By continuing your studies and pathway into Education (P-12), upon successful completion and meeting registration requirements this may lead to careers in teaching. Continuing your studies and pathway into Early Childhood Education may lead to a career teaching in a Kindergarten, preschool or childcare setting. Continuing your studies and pathway into the Education Studies may lead to a career in community-based education.
