Overview

La Trobe's Diploma of Rural Health is your pathway to one of our health degrees and a qualification to step into entry-level roles.

You can earn up to one year’s worth of course credit (also called advanced standing) for the subjects you study - meaning you could jump directly into the second year of either La Trobe's Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration) at either the Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura or Shepparton campus.

You’ll also be connected to a Senior Support Adviser and peer mentors who'll support you along the way.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any English.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Rural Health.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates of the Diploma of Rural Health can pursue entry-level roles across health services and organisations.

You could become a:

Medical assistant: Take responsibility for the administrative tasks needed in the day-to-day operations of physician’s clinics, chiropractic offices or other healthcare facilities.
