Overview

La Trobe’s Diploma of Rural Health / Bachelor of Health Sciences package gives you a direct pathway to the Bachelor of Health Sciences if you didn’t meet the entry requirements or would like additional support as you transition to university.

In the Diploma you’ll study the same subjects and classes as Bachelor students while receiving additional support from a Senior Support Advisor.

Upon successful completion of the Diploma you will move directly into the second year of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (at Melbiourne or Bendigo campuses), receiving advanced standing for the subjects you have already completed.*

With La Trobe’s flexible Bachelor of Health Sciences, you’ll gain excellent preparation for employability or further study in diverse fields of health and science. You’ll develop specialised knowledge and skills through a choice of health majors.**

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates of the Diploma of Rural Health Sciences can pursue entry-level roles across health services and organisations.

You could become a:
  • Medical assistant Take responsibility for the administrative tasks needed in the day-to-day operations of physician’s clinics, chiropractic offices or other healthcare facilities.
