Gain expertise in secondary education, and take your first step towards becoming a teacher, with the online Graduate Certificate in Teaching (Secondary Education).

Our fast-tracked program provides an introduction to the principles and practices of education at secondary-school level.

While the certificate doesn't qualify you to teach in schools, it opens the door to a range of roles that support young adults in their learning. It also prepares you for the Master of Teaching (Secondary Education), which leads to teacher registration.

You'll graduate with skills and knowledge in these areas:
  • education strategies to support and include students from diverse backgrounds
  • teaching practices for literacy and numeracy education across the curriculum
  • data analysis to monitor the effectiveness of teaching practices and student learning
  • research methods for sourcing and understanding education resources.

Prerequisites

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Bachelor Degree: Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a discipline that meets VIT specialisation requirements available at: https://www.vit.vic.edu.au/media/documents/publications-and-forms/forms/Specialist_Area_Guidelines_2015.pdf.

Majors

Secondary Education.
