This course is a fast-tracked Undergraduate certificate courses online, subsidised by Commonwealth Government.

The Undergraduate Certificate in French aims to provide a sound, basic level of proficiency in French within a curricular framework that fosters the development of linguistic and cultural competency of students and introduces students to a wide body of specific and cross-disciplinary knowledge relative to French and the cultural practices, artistic expression, and composition of French and francophone societies. This course provides foundational cognitive and metacognitive training to enhance language acquisition and form broad conceptual understandings about languages and applied linguistics.

On completion of this course students will be able to communicate at a basic level of competence in French, including obtaining and providing services and information and recognise the main socio-cultural aspects of the French-speaking world. Students will be able to demonstrate general knowledge of cultural studies relative to francophone countries and develop an understanding of language acquisition. Students will understand main theories and principles of language studies, and knowledge of current issues therein and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in relation to inter-cultural communication and develop understanding and respect for cultural and linguistic diversity.
