Overview

This course will equip students with the broad knowledge and skills they need to pursue a career in creative industries with a focus on media and entertainment production. Students will prepare for and undertake media production projects, assist others in productions, and work as part of a production team.

With emphasis on practical production activities students will learn how to produce screen and media content with professional production values for a range of platforms and distribution destinations. Coursework will include professional communication, production management and collaboration methods, and will survey and review trends in screen and media production and distribution - both local and international.

The practical nature of the program and its close contact with industry builds skills and confidence to enter a range of professional screen and media roles.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in English other than EAL or at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

This qualification prepares graduates for careers including creative freelancing, employment in film, television or online media industries, media content creation and organisational roles within the corporate, educational, cultural, government or non-government organisations, wherever practical media production skills and knowledge are required.
