Overview

As an RMIT advanced manufacturing and mechatronics student, you'll design, build and implement smart mechatronic systems which can be deployed within a wide range of engineering companies. You'll have the opportunity to work with industry leaders using the theory and practical experience gained from the course to solve a problem.

This course focuses on designing and building advanced robotic and control systems, automated and data-driven manufacturing, and advanced materials.

Your studies will include areas such as electrical and electronic system design, machine intelligence and robotics, computer programming and advanced materials. The emphasis is placed on the need to view a manufacturing system as being made up of people, machines and information.

Opportunities for advanced manufacturing and mechatronics engineers can be found in many engineering and technology-based companies.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: Further Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
