Overview

Combine business studies with event management and marketing knowledge, gaining the skills to promote, organise and manage events.

First year introduces you to essential business disciplines such as accounting, economics and finance. You'll take introductory events management and marketing subjects, including The Event Experience and Marketing: Defined, Planned and Delivered.

Your event management major gives you the skills to plan festivals and community events while developing your knowledge of sustainability in event planning and management.

Your marketing major teaches you to define and communicate effective marketing strategies. You’ll gain an understanding of brands and brand management, advertising and sales promotion, along with the market research skills necessary to find opportunities for successful events.

We place a focus on developing your entrepreneurial skills, which are vital for the promotion and success of professional, sporting, cultural and community events.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Event management, Marketing.

Potential Career Outcomes

Our graduates go on to work as planners, organisers and facilitators for events, conferences and festivals. You could find work in corporate and non-profit organisations, small businesses or local communities.
