Overview

If you're a sport enthusiast interested in how sport is managed, presented and promoted, this degree gives you the insight and skills to pursue a career in this field.

You'll explore the business of sport-specific operations through theory and practical experience in the sports industry. From developing the knowledge of business principles to completing a 200-hour work placement, you'll graduate with the knowledge and skills to design and deliver sport services, goods or experiences.

You'll also undertake workshops that develop your employability, along with core subjects in entrepreneurship, sport governance and sport development.

You'll have the flexibility of nine elective subject choices from any area, or undertake a second major.

Furthermore, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in overseas business studies with our partner universities across the globe. These include University of Stirling (Scotland), University of Windsor (Canada) and University of Oregon (USA).

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Sport Management.

Potential Career Outcomes

Our students have gone on to become sporting club team managers and account managers. You may also find positions in health and fitness centres, marketing and sponsorship agencies, local government and sport boards, venue management or even athlete management.
