Offering a broad range of study areas, this unique, modern space in the heart of Adelaide is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, Festival Plaza provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility when selecting their preferred study location.

Please note only Year 1 topics of this course will be available in 2024. If you have been granted credit transfer or wish to apply for credit transfer for this course on the basis of previous study and you are granted credit, this may mean you will not be able to enrol in Year 2 or higher year topics, nor able to enrol on a full-time basis until 2025.

The Bachelor of Creative Arts (Creative Writing) aims to equip students with practical skills in writing, research and editing, so as graduates they are experienced in the variety of forms required in both literary and professional contexts. The degree will provide students with an understanding of literary genres, styles, and forms, which includes an understanding of their historical, social and cultural contexts and support students to develop an understanding of the culture of writing and publishing in Australia.

Graduates of this degree students will be able to produce creative work to a high standard using conceptual, practical and technical skills and be able to evaluate high-level knowledge of the processes involved in the production of creative work in both themselves and others. Students will be able to justify sound knowledge of theories, factual content and research methods including an awareness of practices and appraise knowledge of aspects of the arts industries relevant to their chosen program.

This degree prepares graduates for employment in a wide range of employers in the arts and communications industries nationally and internationally. Potential occupations may include freelance writer, publishing assistant and copywriter; potential employers may include newspapers, magazines and television stations.
