Overview

This course will fully qualify you as an Engineer in just four years. In this interdisciplinary course you will have an outstanding practical and theoretical preparation, with a rich mixture of units covering cell biology, engineering concepts, and biomedical engineering principles. The course will provide strong clinical links and regulatory understanding, and a readiness for employment as a professional engineer.

Biomedical engineering will equip you with the relevant design and problem-solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences in order to improve healthcare diagnosis, monitoring, therapy, and create new medical instruments and devices. You will develop the knowledge and skills essential for a professional career in biomedical engineering. 

Once you have completed your Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) you may wish to further your study with the Master of Engineering or a research degree. Different fee arrangements apply for these courses.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Chemistry or Physics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
