The Bachelor of Information Technology (Machine Learning) produces IT professionals ready to innovate and develop the next generation of machine learning and artificial intelligence based applications. Graduates of this degree will be able to develop sophisticated solutions to complex problems using machine learning techniques and tools. The course provides education in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of information technology and intelligent systems preparing graduates for a variety of roles. The course offers national best practice work experience and job placement, preparing you for the needs of the South Australian, Australian and international technology industry and public service sectors. This degree is accredited by the Australian Computer Society at the professional level. Professional ICT courses accredited by the Australian Computer Society are recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord. Graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered status as ICT professionals.

Offering a broad range of study areas, this unique, modern space in the heart of Adelaide is designed for collaborative learning, interactive teaching and industry engagement. Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, Festival Plaza provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility when selecting their preferred study location.

Please note only Year 1 topics of this course will be available in 2024. If you have been granted credit transfer or wish to apply for credit transfer for this course on the basis of previous study and you are granted credit, this may mean you will not be able to enrol in Year 2 or higher year topics, nor able to enrol on a full-time basis until 2025.

Students will work with partners to design machine learning applications that can be deployed across a wide variety of industries, studying a broad range of both information technology and machine learning topics. They will have the opportunity to engage with multi-disciplinary teams from across the University in the design and construction of knowledge-based AI-driven systems, gaining insight into the current trends in knowledge engineering and its uses.

On completion this degree graduates will be able to develop sophisticated solutions to complex problems using machine learning techniques and tools. This degree offers national best practice work experience and job placement, preparing students for the needs of the South Australian, Australian and international technology industry and public service sectors.
