Overview

Go beyond theory by identifying solutions to global challenges. This course encourages critical thinking while building an understanding of the dynamics that shape international affairs.

Taught by passionate academics with extensive experience in policy development and implementation, this degree aims to prepare you for a career in foreign affairs, defence, trade, government or  non-governmental organisations and the private sector.

You can specialise in a specific geographic region (e.g. Europe or Asia) or a particular field (e.g. diplomacy, environmental politics, security studies, international organisation, conflict resolution or economics).

You will develop communication and research skills to apply in real-world problems and current affairs.

The degree is unique as it includes opportunities for work placements in a variety of Australian government or non government organisations or study at one of our overseas partner universities to broaden your international experience.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Global Politics, International Relations.

Potential Career Outcomes

Your studies may lead you to career opportunities in government – in foreign affairs, trade or defence; inter-governmental agencies like the United Nations and the World Health Organisation or international organisations like Oxfam and Amnesty International.
