Overview

The Bachelor of Music enables you to master technical and performance skills and develop specialised knowledge in music performance (classical or jazz and improvisation), popular music or composition and music technology. Engaging with the historical, creative, technical and cultural aspects of music, you’ll lay the foundations for a rewarding career in music. You’ll have weekly one-to-one lessons, collaborate with students in other specialisations, learn from accomplished music staff and engage with international artists.

The degree includes free electives, allowing you to deepen your expertise within your specialisation, or select electives from other areas in Arts or another Faculty such as Business, Information Technology or Science. You’ll have access to Monash’s Global Immersion Guarantee,* an opportunity to spend two weeks studying in one of a variety of international destinations. Airfares and accommodation are covered as part of your degree. *Eligibility applies

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).

Composition and music technology, Music, Performance (Classical or Jazz), Popular music (Voice or Popular music instrument).
