Professionally accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council, this course provides the first step to becoming a professional, registered psychologist.

The Bachelor of Psychological Sciences provides specialised study in developmental psychology, cognition, social psychology, personality, psychological measurement and abnormal psychology, while developing skills in project management, research design and report writing.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or equivalent.

Analysis of variance and regression, Brain and behaviour, Cognition and human performance, Developmental psychology, Foundations of statistics, Fundamentals of psychology, History and philosophy of psychology, Mental health diversity diagnosis and treatment, Psychology of personality, Social psychology.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be well prepared to work in a range of sectors and industries, including policing, corrections, courts, offender rehabilitation, victim support and government policy development. The type of roles this qualification leads to may include psychologist (with further study), social welfare consultant, medical researcher, child safety officer, clinical worker, health officer, child development officer.
