Overview

Become a secondary school teacher focusing on the education of students from Years 7 to 12.

Graduate career ready and with professional honours in just four years of study. Gain a competitive advantage by studying industry-relevant coursework, engaging in highly practical learning and developing applied research.

Build core knowledge in best education practices, curriculum planning, professional experience and leadership. You'll choose two Learning Areas aligned with the Australian Curriculum to form your major and sub-major and meet national teacher registration requirements.

Learning Areas include Arts (Visual Arts or Drama and Creative Arts); English; English as an Additional Language or Dialect (sub-major only); Humanities and Social Sciences (Geography and History); Languages (French, Italian, Japanese or Languages Education); Mathematics; Psychology (sub-major only); Science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology); Outdoor Education (sub-major only); Religious Education (Catholic Studies) (sub-major only); or Technologies (Design and Technology, Food and Textiles Technology), or Digital Technologies (sub-major only).

Get real classroom experience with 100 days of field-based placements starting in your first six months of study. Access specialist teaching and learning facilities, including maker spaces, laboratories, and performing arts theatres.

Graduates can apply for teacher registration in South Australia, interstate and some overseas countries. Applicants should note that there are other criteria determining eligibility for registration by the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia and other registration and regulatory authorities.
