Overview

Acting is more than just waiting for that one big break. The Bachelor of Performance (Acting) is Flinders' dedicated professional training course for actors in theatre and on screen. Taught by practising industry professionals in exceptional, purpose-built spaces and studios, this course prepares industry-ready graduates with the theoretical and practical skills to create their own shows, their own media and their own careers.

This course has replaced the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama) (214561). Applicants interested in Directing should add the Bachelor of Performance (Directing) (245131) as a preference to their application.

The Bachelor of Performance (Acting) aims to produce versatile actors who can work across stage, screen, and digital platforms. The program is designed to train students as creative thinkers, collaborators, and cultural producers who can adapt to the ever-changing industry. We aim to graduate thoughtful actors who understand the theatrical past so that they can shape the future of performance.

This program is immersive, combining practical, professional actor training with intellectually stimulating study in dramatic history, theory, and criticism. The training emphasises exploring the actor's craft through ensemble building, script analysis, character development, movement, voice, and speech. Students engage in practical performance training in a range of contexts, including new media and emerging technologies. This equips students to work not only as actors under the leadership of other creatives, but also as independent artists generating and producing their own content. The program is ensemble-focussed and collaborative, and graduates are prepared for work in theatre, film, television, digital media, and beyond.

Graduates will undertake a rigorous, immersive program of actor training, and are prepared to work both independently and collaboratively across live and digital media. Alongside practical skills, they are equipped with knowledge of dramatic history, theory, and criticism.

On completion of this degree there is an opportunity to apply for a one-year Honours degree. For further information visit www.flinders.edu.au/honours.
